Basketry
I made a few baskets when I lived in Virginia in the 1970’s. When I enrolled in college in California as an adult, I began using basketry techniques such as coiling, twining, and knotting as my primary art form because I didn’t have time to weave on the loom.
Most of my pieces are sculptural forms rather than functional, working containers. I like to see what different materials do rather than trying to force them into a traditional shape.
